Ismayil Omarov was reelected to the post of Director- General of the national broadcaster of Azerbaijan Ictimai (ITV)

Members of the Broadcasting Council of ITV unanimously reelected him as the Director- General of ITV

Today on 12 PM, election to the post of Director-General of the Public TV was held in the building of the National TeleRadio Council. Nine members of the Broadcasting Council unanimously reelected Ismayil Omarov to the post of Director-General of ITV. It should be mentioned that the Broadcasting Council consists of Cahangir Mammadli, Vagif Abbasov, Altay Zahidov, Agil Dadashov, Agajan Abiyev, Namig Mammadov, Salman Musayev, Fuad Muradov and Zarifa Salahova.     
Omarov Ismayil Abbas Oglu was born on February 20, 1954 in Kvemo-Bolnisi village (Kapanakchi village) of Bolnisi region of the Republic of Georgia. He graduated from Kapanakchi village secondary school in 1971. The same year he entered the faculty of journalism of Azerbaijan State University. After graduating from his higher education in 1976, he was given assignment to work at Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company and began a career in the television. He was promoted from the assistant editor to editor-in-chief. He was a scriptwriter and presenter of the TV series such as “Blockade”, “Tragedy of the Century”, “Black January”, “Karabakh Knot” etc. He studied a great number of tragedies that faced Azerbaijan in ‘90s. He got his second higher education as a political analyst in Baku Institute of Social Management and Political Science. He was elected a deputy of Milli Majlis of the second convocation for 2000-2005. On April 16, 2008 an absolute majority of votes elected him the Director General of the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company out of 16 nominees. He is the one who in a short period of time succeeded to establish the Public TV and Radio which is one of the democratic and transparent institutions in the media sphere. He is a member of the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Hostages and Missing People. He is winner of the awards, “Qizil Qalam” (Golden Pen) “Araz”, “Media Oscar” of Turkish Tele-Radio Journalists circle, Altin Odul( Golden Prize) of the Institute for Research on Turkic World and “Zirvedekiler” award of the journal “First Business”. He is Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
