Date for discussion of the draft resolution “ The situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan” in the session of UN General assembly changed

It should be mentioned that in the draft resolution, the General Assembly reaffirms the applicability of all relevant norms of international humanitarian law and international standards on human rights to the situation as a result of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and as well as reaffirms the commitment to ensure the right of the population deported from conflict-affected territories in and around Nagorno Karabakh, and their descendants to return to their homes, determines that the return of the population expelled from the conflict-affected territories in and around the Nagorno-Karabakh region will create favorable conditions for taking confidence-building measures and encouraging people-to-people contacts; stressed the need to ensure the protection of cultural heritage and sacred sites in the conflict-affected territories in and around the Nagorno-Karabakh region. In the draft resolution, the General Assembly proposes to the UN structures to discuss the issue for ensuring the international humanitarian law norms and International human rights in and around the conflict zone of Nagorno Karabakh as well as to sent a multinational investigation group to the conflict zone for preparing a report. In the resolution, the UN Secretary General is asked to present a thorough report in the 65th assembly for implementation of this resolution. www.itv.az
