Conference of heads of customs services of WCO European Region kicks off in Baku

Azerbaijan and Macedonia have signed a cooperation agreement on customs sphere within the conference

Today Baku is hosting a conference of heads of customs services of World Customs Organization European Region. Representatives of 36 countries and heads of customs services of 18 countries joined the conference that will last until April 13. Total 84 foreign guests, as well WCO General-Secretary Kunio Mikuriya, WCO Chairman Josephin Sihili and other representatives attend the conference. 

Azerbaijani Deputy PM Abid Sharifov, deputy chairman of WCO on European Region Byorn Ross have made greeting speeches. 

Sharifov spoke about Azerbaijan’s successes in economy saying " “Azerbaijan customs agencies have collected AZN 3.5 mln customs duty in 1994 and transferred to the state budget. This figure was AZN 144 mln in 2000, AZN 366 mln in 2005, AZN 1.144 bln in 2011”.
