Today is an International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

One of every three women is victim of violation, one of every 5 is raped

In regards to our country, today, Azerbaijani women play an active role in all spheres of public life. In 1990, 4.3 percent of women were deputies, today this figure is 11,2 percent. 29% of them work in state service, 15% in business sphere. According to State Statistics Committee, 745 of every 1000 Azerbaijani women over 15 have school and university education. However, The United Nations Office on Anti-Drugs and Crime finds that 86 percent of women in Azerbaijan are engaged in human-trafficking. According to the report covering 155 countries, 79 percent of women and girls-main victims of human trafficking are taken abroad for sexual exploitation. www.itv.az
