He stressed that Azerbaijan which will chair the organization in 2002 planed to take serious measures. He says that the region which represents the organization has very important privileges. First, the geographical position of these countries, their shortest and useful transportation corridor, rich natural resources are of great importance. The organization has been in operation for nearly two decades and many have been done. However, the productivity of the organization should be improved.
The deputy chairman also said that issues related to reforms have been included into the agenda of a meeting of regional planning group planned to be held soon. In regards to the membership of Azerbaijan to the World Trade Organization, the government looked at proposals offered by the United States, the European Union, Japan and South Korea regarding the membership.
“We can not accept all the proposals. The proposals are related to goods, services, and domestic assistance to the agriculture. We will try to find compromises, said the Mammadguliyev.
Azerbaijan is a developing country and should enter the World Trade Organization with this status” added the deputy minister. www.itv.az
